The Sunday Night Film Club (SNFC) gets together at a DC-area theatre every Sunday to watch a film as a group, and then discuss it over dinner and drinks. There is no cost to join the club (other than your ticket and anything you may spend on food/drink afterwards) and there's no obligation to attend every week. It's just a very casual group of people that like film, period.

If you'd like to join us, join our group on Meetup.com, subscribe to our newsletter, one of our syndicated feeds (RSS or Atom), subscribe to our iCal Calendar, or watch this page. Once a week you will recieve a newsletter announcing the details of that weekend's gathering (Film, Time, Place, etc).

Exploring the comedic twists and emotional turns in one couple’s journey across contemporary America, Away We Go is the new movie from Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty). Longtime (and now thirtysomething) couple Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) are going to have a baby. The pregnancy progresses smoothly, but six months in, the pair is put off and put out by the cavalierly delivered news from Burt’s parents Jerry and Gloria (Jeff Daniels and Catherine O’Hara) that the eccentric elder Farlanders are moving out of Colorado—thereby eliminating the expectant couple’s main reason for living there. So, where, and among whom of those closest to them, might Burt and Verona best put down roots to raise their impending bundle of joy? The couple embarks on an ambitious itinerary to reconnect with old friends and family, and to evaluate cities. Co-starring Allison Janney, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Paul Schneider and Chris Messina. Featuring music by singer/songwriter Alexi Murdoch.

As this is opening weekend for the film, and it's playing on 2 screens, we strongly recommend everyone pre-order their tickets via the web at http://www.landmarktheatres.com/tickets/default.asp

In a globe-trotting comedy about the last great adventure of the world's best con men, deception is an art and nothing is as it seems. Brothers Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) and Bloom (Adrien Brody) have perfected the art of swindling fortunes through years of fraternal teamwork. Now they've decided to take on one last spectacular job—luring beautiful and eccentric heiress Penelope (Rachel Weisz) into an elaborate plot that takes them around the world. When a genuine romance begins to blossom between Bloom and Penelope, he is reluctant to exploit her naiveté, but Penelope has already taken the bait: She impulsively joins the brothers and their "associate," a sexy Japanese explosives expert named Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi), on an ocean liner to Greece. Penelope is convinced she's happened upon the adventure of a lifetime and offers to bankroll a million dollar deal. As the quartet makes their way from Athens to Prague to Mexico to St. Petersburg, Penelope quickly becomes addicted to the illicit thrills. But as Stephen's elaborate web of deceit pulls tighter, Bloom begins to wonder if his brother has devised the most dangerous con of his life. Written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick).
